Iceland and photography equipment
I'm hoping to visit Iceland late October/early November, and so far have a few nights' stay in Reykjavik provisionally booked. The plan so far is to do a couple of day tours from Reykjavik as a base, then start moving along the Ring Road in a carpool-type arrangement. I hope to be able to stop and take lots and lots of world-class quality photos, but I'm just wondering is this possible with your average Samsung digital camera/smartphone combo, and a bit of your old-fashioned entrepreneurial creativity, or would it be worth investing in something a bit more sturdy and professional (and expensive)?
Fully expecting a plethora of weather changes (being from Scotland I'm used to that but Iceland is meant to be on a whole other level), and also because it's not every day you see some of the most dramatic scenery in the world I really want to do it justice, and wouldn't mind paying a little extra if it made a difference. However, considering how eye-wateringly expensive Iceland is meant to be, I'd only do this if I really needed to.
