Studying abroad a semester in Madrid (currently here) and very interested in visiting Liechtenstein. Any tips?
I'm a geography major, so I get that Liechtenstein really isn't that close to Madrid. I've always been extremely fascinated by Europe's microstates, I'm currently planning a trip to Andorra as well, but I am very interested in Liechtenstein because of the beautiful scenery, and how off the beaten path the country seems to be.
What I already know (based on constantly checking airfares) is that a flight to Zurich from Madrid isn't THAT expensive (depending on when you get it), and that from Zurich, its very very easy to take a bus into Liechtenstein. If I were to do this, I would likely make a weekend out of it. I'd probably spend a day in Zurich, then eventually get on the bus and spend the night in Vaduz, or anywhere in Liechtenstein I can get an airbnb. But, does anyone by chance know just how expensive this whole trip might end up? Does anyone who has been to Zurich or Liechtenstein have any advice regarding how expensive those places are, because I feel like both countries are extremely expensive regardless of what you're doing there?
Also, would you say Liechtenstein is worth visiting? I've read many travel sites that say its possibly the most boring country in Europe, but I feel like my experience with the country would be different given my huge interest in microstates, and geography in general.
If anyone has any advice regarding the best way to get to and from Liechtenstein from Madrid (or just Zurich), any advice would be incredibly helpful, as I'm only here 3 more months and I've never planned a trip anywhere by myself, so I'm not really sure where I would and wouldn't be getting scammed.
TLDR - I'm a study abroad student in Madrid, and I want to go to Liechtenstein very badly, but I'm not completely sure what the best way to go about it is. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
