Hello - I may have the chance to book a last minute two-week trip to E.Africa for the end of October/early November. I don't know much about this region of the world. What should I expect to budget as a per day cost?

I would like to go on a budget safari and see the Serengeti. I'm not much of a luxury traveler (have backpacked throughout most of the world in my 20s) - but since I'm now in my mid-30s, a few creature comforts would be nice.

Generally I like independent travel - not a fan of pre-packaged tours, although I understand this region of the world may require it.
