Hey Reddit fam!

So this is my 1st time traveling outside the country and I am excited but nervous. I won the trip through work and bringing my best friend. We are staying at the Oberstar hotel and its an inclusive resort.

My concerns are leaving the hotel with all thats going on in mexico if so, where is safest? We are both in our young 30s and she has 2 little ones at home. We want to see mexico but certainly do not want any worries!! Also, have heard alot about "bad" alcohol and people dying at resorts as well as the drug cartel getting out of control. Anyones thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!
