Question about renting a car with a debit card.
Hi!
So I'm renting a car in Atlanta through Sixt. I don't have a credit card to use, and this is one of the only companies nearby that accept debit cards and offers low rates.
So I've already booked the car and I noticed that they require 2 utility bills that need to match the driver's license name and address. I don't have that. I have a Florida ID, so now I fall into the category of a nonlocal renter. For nonlocal renters, they require a return flight itinerary to use a debit card.
So, here's my question. Basically, I was wondering if I can book a round trip flight today, print my itinerary, cancel the flight, receive a refund, and collect my car using the itinerary I've printed on the day I've reserved? What are the odds of them actually checking the flight is valid and hasn't been canceled? This is not an airport location, so I feel like they shouldn't have open access to this information.
Thanks.
EDIT: Thank you guys for your help, I ended up booking a cheap ($48) round trip ticket that I'm not going to cancel since it still comes out to way less than renting with anyone else! We're all set! Thanks!
