Just a Quick Info About Travelling and Passport Problem Guys, Need Help!
Hello guys, so as the title says I need information about a situation that is causing me and my girl some panic right now.
My girl is hungarian (currently living in Ireland) and she wants to come and visit me now in Portugal. Her flight is this next Friday.
She went to do the check-in via online (Aer Lingus) and she noticed they require passport now. This is a situation we both didnt knew at all, I had family members going to UK (1 month ago) and they did not require passport at all. I mentioned UK because UK left EU so would kinda be a normal thing to happen.
My boss said he went to Dublin multiple times and no one ever asked about passports too as long as you have your ID card to identify yourself/country.
My girl has ID but doesnt have a valid passport (and most likely will not have it one till friday since she finds pretty impossible for the hungarian embassy to give her one).
We contacted another airline also (Ryanair) and they said they dont require passport but i thought quite weird this being an airline policy since they would lose a lot of clients i guess. We did some search in internet and the investigation is mixed since some say you need and other say you dont need (all about schegen area etc.)
So someone with best inside can tell me if indeed a passport is needed or only ID card? (preference maybe an Irish person who visit Portugal recently or someone from EU who visit Ireland)?
Would be life saving guys !! Thanks and sorry for my english and long text !
PS: We are trying to contact Aer Lingus for 3/4 days but with no luck, guess this airline is having problems.
