Itinerary suggestions for Vietnam first timer. Mostly just into hanging out and eating! Ever been? Please read and contribute!
Hi all!
I am 35 yo male from NYC, going to Vietnam for the first time not too long from now.
I travel for STREET FOOD.... and restaurants... food in general. And local scenery. I just love wandering around unknown cities and eating unfamiliar food. I had a blast in Chiang Mai and Bangkok last year and want to up the ante a little bit with Vietnam!
Here is my plan thus far (plane tickets roundtrip from the USA are already bought!): Fly into HCMC late night, stay a few days, if the weather permits visit the central part of the country (Hue/Hoi An), then head up to Hanoi for awhile and finally fly to Bangkok. In BKK I am only doing one night of partying, otherwise it's more about doctor and dentist stuff... but always, more food.
More information: I don't have much interest at all in cultural tourism... I am mostly looking to travel for the food. I like nature but I don't think I would enjoy it as much solo as I would with a partner. So no Hao Long Bay or Caves for me this year. I am curious about Sapa but also a little intimidated by going alone. Hoi An does not appeal to me because my taste is more for a rough nitty gritty type city. I mostly want to try the cuisine of the central coast. Hue was recommended to me by a friend, but in my research it seems like something I would not think to go to myself. I love art and beauty...
