Traveling from Australia to Cuba - Via USA?
So I've searched for some more recent information (Both on google and in this sub) and the only reference information I could locate was someone who wanted to do a similar voyage in 2003 - obviously, things have changed, I realise now it is much easier for Americans to get to Cuba which is great! I think we as humans should be able to explore as much of this crazy world and support one anothers tourism as much as possible!
We are planning a US trip in October next year, with a week in NY, a few days in Orlando and then a week in NOLA - Then my friend would like to depart for Cuba. My question refers specifically to getting first out of US (We're looking to depart from New Orleans to wherever we need to stop to get to Cuba) and then back in the US (Probably New York as this will be when our return flight is.
I understand there are certain questions Americans will be asked when returning to the country, but the answers to these will no doubt be ones i do not know.
So, has anyone done similar? What was the process? I can fill in the gaps pretty independently but it's the leaving for Cuba and returning to US that i get stuck on - I also am under the impression that there is still no direct flights? We need to go via Mexico?
I know this got long winded, and i apologise - I just want this one tiny part of our trip explained if i can. I understand also that it is kinda weirdly specific, so thanks if you can help!
