Thinking about doing an open- ended, mostly overland trip through Europe, Africa and Asia and can't find many resources

Hi guys,

So r/rtw doesn't seem to be super active. But yeah, I graduate with my masters next May, and I need a break (been working as a nurse for 4 years and it's stressful).

I'm thinking about getting a one way to Scotland, and working my way clockwise up through Norway, Sweden, and Finland, through east Europe and then zigzagging around the rest of Europe, down to Spain/ Portugal; and then through africa...hoping to come back to through Egypt, maybe Israel; and the fly to India and make my way through Asia. Probably end in New Zealand? Also, I kind of just want to plan as I go. I don't want to rush anything or tie myself down if I get tired of someplace.

Is this crazy? So here's the thing. My trip will be open ended; I can save about $15 -$20K before I go (i live frugally in addition to some savings, and am planning on selling some stuff). Also, I think I can do a lot of this trip through workaway and wwoof (and Couchsurfing). (No pay, but lodging and meals for the first two). Maybe that's not enough but I've seen a few websites that state they spent $20k and stayed in hostels... also, I'm considering trying to get freelance work as there is some stuff out there for freelance MSN's...or there's always r/beermoney or under the table work...

The main thing is, I feel like it's better to try to see as much of the world in one go as possible, especially the stuff that's connected. In the US we're so isolated...and I'd like to do a lot of traveling before my parents get too old and I have to move closer to them.

Anyway, would love any resources or subreddits that you guys can point out! I think it's possible to do it; i recently have met a few people that just get under the table jobs and work their way around the world...the main thing I need info on is like, how to apply for visas when I'm in a foreign country...is there a phone that works around the world...is there travel insurance that doesn't cost $300 a month? Stuff like that...

Thanks :)
