First timer looking for help!
Hey everyone,
I'll keep it short and sweet. I have about 3, maybe 4 weeks to travel around Europe(never been), and I'm hoping to end up in Iceland for about a week(too long?).
My current itinerary looks like so:
Sept 8th: Land in London.
Sept 15th: Head to Amsterdam
Sept 21st: Head to Iceland
Sept 28th: back home.
I wanted to Include Berlin, but it's a bit out of the way. My budget is around 5000CAD. I was looking into travelling by train, but I don't see any benefits from doing so, with plane tickets being so cheap.
An alternative itinerary is to nix Iceland, and just stay within Europe for a longer period of time. I could see a train pass making sense in this case, but I would really love to see Iceland. Though I'm open to changing up my plans.
If anyone has any tips regarding anything at all, I would really appreciate it. It's the first time I've ever planned anything like this at all. I was initially going to go with my sister, and we had been planning for over a month, but she bailed on me last minute and now I am planning my own trip, so I don't have much time.
Basically, I don't know if I am spending too much or too little time in the cities I am visiting. Ideally, I would like to keep it more open and take some daytrips. I will not be renting a car, so public transport is my only option from A to B.
Additionally, I am quite nervous, which I assume is normal. I want to get out of my comfort zone, but I worry that I will just keep to myself the whole trip. I've never stayed in a Hostel before, so I'm not sure what to expect, I'm not exactly one to mingle with strangers comfortably(something I am looking to change.)
I'm also wondering about currency exchange. Should I exchange my money before I leave, or when I land? I'm with Tangerine, and I will be calling them to ask about using my card there, but from my research, you want to be paying cash most of the time.
Please let me know if I have missed any vital information. Any and all opinions are very much appreciated! Thanks again!
