Seeking advice/recommendations for 4 day solo-trip to Guatemala City and Tikal
Hey all. I am visiting Guatemala for 4 days from Los Angeles, getting to Guatemala at 8 am on 1st September and leaving on the evening of 4th September. Unlike my other trips, I unfortunately haven't had the time to do too much research on Guatemala for this trip, so any tips, advice or things to know would very much appreciated! :)
Essentially, the plan so far is to spend the first 2 days around Guatemala City seeing a combination of touristy things (I am thinking a day trip, or may be 2 trips, to a nearby volcano) and also going out to the bars and seeing Guatemala city. My Spanish is very very poor, so I guess google translate will have to help me through all of that. I am planning on staying at a hostel the first night (recommendations are welcome!) and then on the 2nd night, I am planning on taking a night bus (again recommendations are appreciated) to Flores, from where I want to go see Tikal (the primary reason for my visit to Guatemala) the next day. The third night, the goal is to again take a night bus back to Guatemala City to arrive there on the morning of the 4th and wandering around the city for the rest of the day till I have to catch my flight back to LA. Any recommendations for thigns to do/see or for places to meet other like-minded people looking to explore Guatemala together will be highly appreciated. Also, if there are areas/places I should avoid for safety concerns, a heads up will also be cool lol. Thank you!
