Question about vandwelling vs. 4wd-truck-dwelling in Australia
I'm considering doing a working holiday in Australia in a few years and am trying to weigh living and traveling the country in a camper van vs. a 4wd truck capable of offroading.
The main conflict for me is I'd like the freedom to go offroad or on unsealed roads at least a bit for some remote camping, but I'd also like the freedom to do some stealth camping in more urban areas at points as well. The former is more doable with a 4wd truck (like a LandCruiser with a rooftop tent) and the latter seems more doable with a traditional camper van.
Secondarily, a camper van would definitely be more comfortable most of the time. But would I be missing out on a lot of the country without a 4wd truck? If anyone here is currently in or has been to Oz and can give their take I would really appreciate it!
