My family and I are planning on going to Europe next summer. Where should we go? What should we do?
My family and I travel frequently, but we have never been to Europe together! I am currently 17 years old and last year I went on a school trip to Europe and loved it. Now we want to experience it as a family! Since this trip will be next year and my sisters and I all have summer birthdays in or before the month of July, we will all be a years older. The trip should be between 10-14 days/nights. Previous European Destinations:
Me (17 years old): Italy(Rome, Montecassino, Pompeii), Austria(Salzburg), Germany(Munich, Berchtesgaden, Nuremberg) Czechia(Prauge) Sister (14 years old): Nowhere Other Sister (15 years old): Nowhere Mom: Ireland Dad: Ireland, multiple places for business (UK, Germany, More im not sure of). It is important to know my Father spent the last few years of high school in an international school and has family in Switzerland.
Budget: We have a decent amount of money saved up for a big trip and in the end we have about $3,000-$4,000 per person in a family of five. This is including flying/train expenses and everything else.
Travel: We plan on renting a car/s and driving as much as we can, but if anyone has a better idea say please tell me!
Background: This summer (2017) when I went to Europe I loved it and could not wait to go back the second I returned home. The most memorable sites and cities I visited on the trip include; basically everything I saw in Rome :), the city of Prauge and Munich. I would like to revisit some of these places this trip, but if it is not easily done with the rest of my family's interests it is okay.
Interest/Requirements: Since my Father used to live in Switzerland he would like to visit Geneva to relive his childhood memories and to laysin to visit family. He knows he wants to go there but we do not know what to do there so suggestions would be appreciated ;). He was also looking into going to Interlaken and Zermact, but these are not set in stone. We have a few days reserved for our visit to Switzerland, but other than that we have no other obligations. To be clear this stop does not have to be in the beginning or the end of the trip. It can be whenever. We would also like to visit Rome, but like before we are not exactly sure what we are going to do there and how it will be done (tour guide, exploration, or some other way?). My sisters are not interested in the same things as my Father, Mother, and I. My older sister is really only interested in Italian food and my younger sister likes makeup and fashion. My Mother recommended visiting the city of Parma since she REALLY likes parmesan cheese and prosciutto ;). For my younger sister I think Paris would be a good place to visit for her, but it is not easy to do everything especially since they are far from each other. Personally I like German cars, European cuisine, and pretty much anything that has to do with WW1/WW2. One thing we are not sure about is whether or not we should take this trip slowly(only stay in a few hotels) or to see as much as we can(moving places every few nights). In my previous trip I moved nearly every night which at the time I was not very fond of it, but looking back I am glad it was done that way. Which way do you recommend?
Other than visiting Switzerland for a few days we are up for going anywhere else! The trip should be close to two weeks long. Any recommendations for where to go or what to do would be appreciated!
