First time traveling out of North America! Headed to Dubai and china. Looking for some travel advice.
NYC -> Dubai (2 days) -> Shanghai (2 days) -> Xi'an (3 days) -> Shanghai (2 days) -> NYC (leaving 9/28). Flying on emirates both ways.
I'll be traveling solo to Dubai and then linking up with a buddy once I get to china. Like the title says, I've never been outside of North America, so really excited for this trip. Really looking forward to this trip, but looking for any advice, travel tips or places to visit that can help make this a better experience. I do have a couple specific questions below if anyone can answer then.

Looking for a hostel/hotel to stay at in Dubai (only accommodation that I have not yet booked). If anyone has a solid recommendation, that would be helpful. Also, would it be better to stay in a hostel or hotel here?

in terms of money. Will I be able to use my credit card (with a chip) or should I plan on getting cash somehow? I haven't really done this at all, so any insight here would be helpful.

I haven't been in a long haul flight like this before, my longest flight before this was JFK->LAX. Do any of you have any travel tips to or suggestions?
