Planning my first solo trip in Europe - recommendations?

I'm planning my first solo trip from mid-September to the beginning of October. I haven't planned much specifically - I'm landing in Palma, Majora, and planning on making my way up the Mediterranean coast and flying back to the States from Nice.

I was thinking about going from Palma -> Valencia -> Barcelona -> Marseille -> Nice, but I haven't planned much in terms of specifics. Any recommendations on things to see, hostels to stay at, things to do? I'm a pretty extroverted person, I love meeting new people. I'm also an artist, and would love to take classes or attend workshops at an art institute in Barcelona or Nice - does anyone have recomdnedations? I love live music, I like art museums and love urban exploration. I wouldn't mind staying at a "party hostel" for some of the time but would also enjoy meeting people in a more laid back way.
