Best place for Christmas holiday?
I just found out today I have 10 days of vacation over Christmas (December 23rd to January 2nd) and I feel overwhelmed by the options!
My boyfriend and I are both Canadian and his bday is actually December 26th. We had planned to visit NY for the long weekend in November but decided now to save up for a Christmas trip.
We went to Jamaica with his family the past two Xmas holidays and while it was warm and lovely, it didn't feel very Christmas-y. I would rather be somewhere more festive with snow and maybe a fireplace. My sister and I are going to Paris in a couple of weeks so I don't know if I could justify going to France twice in one year, though I've heard Provence is Nice ;)
We have been to Amsterdam twice and both LOVE it and would love to go every year. But I am wondering if we should even leave the country/continent, if it's worth the jet lag/money for only ten days? My true dream is to just cozy up in a cabin somewhere and to visit a Christmas market in Europe as well.
Should we just go to NYC, or Denver? We are also more city people than outdoorsy types so we might ultimately find a cabin a bit boring, especially him. I am also way more into Christmas than he is haha. Could you help me to narrow it down? Where did you/would you go for the holidays?
Here are the guidelines:
• Preferably direct flight from Toronto (and not much more than 5 hours time difference)
• Must be adorable, or at least charming
• Snow
• Preferably Airbnb accommodation
• Budget is not five-star, but not bare bones either (I am pretty savvy with finding flight deals and we like to keep our accommodation around $100 CAD per night)
Thanks for any tips!
