Weather check - NY to Oregon in October - safe route?
Hi all,
Trying to plan a route for later this year, hopefully this is the right place to do it. I'm looking to drive from the NYC area to the Eugene, Oregon area around the end of September or beginning of October, to haul some furniture. I'll be in a cargo van, we're renting it so I don't have any control over what tires are on it (sadly).
I've never driven through most of the northern states before, so I don't know what the route looks like during that season. Is I-80 safe around that time of the year, or does it get snow and ice? Should I follow 80 until Wyoming or so, and then pop up north from there? Or should I stick to a route further south?
