Wales to Ireland 1,000 mile road trip: Preparation
I'll be taking a road trip touring EIRE next month. Starting from Mid-Wales heading to South Wales to Fishguard, then a ferry over and spending 4 days driving clockwise until we reach Belfast and get the ferry across to Liverpool and drive the short leg home. Its a group d 10 cars from my local pub and the drivers are a real mixed bunch of car enthusiasts, beer enthusiasts, bored locals and nutters. Driving a mix of 00's Jaguar XJ's, Rover 75s, old bangers and possibly a mk1 Ford Focus RS, and some other generally older mid 00s cars. I'm taking my much loved 2003 2.5 petrol X-Trail with A/T tyres and various mods, as it seems the spacious interior, knobbly tyres and apocalypse spec might come in handy at some point. It's basically well-equipped for the bad weather we get in Wales so might suit a wet September in Ireland. It was that or a 3 litre BMW with unforgiving suspension and not much room. Does anyone have any suggestions, must-have items for the journey, things to look out (watch out for) over in the south of Ireland?
