Road trip from Colorado to Florida. City vs more remote stops?

Non-stop this would be about 24 hours. I’m taking this trip because I’m moving. I’ll be eager to arrive at the final destination but I’d also like to have a little bit of fun along the way. I will be doing this triple as a single woman. Normally when I travel, I’m more of a city person. The route goes from Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, to Florida. With the exception of Georgia, I’ve never been to any of the states I’m driving through.

When looking at the route, it looks like I’d like to stop and stay overnight in Kansas City, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee. I thought maybe I’d get to see some cool bars/restaurants/stay at a nice hotel. I figured overnights in cities would make me feel a bit safer than being in a more remote area. But also I imagine hotels in major cities are a little more expensive. I saw some cool national parks/landmarks along the way. These are places I may never visit again so I’m like maybe take advantage of the outdoors but at the same time, they would probably require longer stops to experience and the stress of the trip may make it hard for me to relax enough to enjoy them.

So thoughts on stopping in more metro areas vs more remote areas? Also any KC or Nashville recommendations?
