Cross Country - Grand Canyon to New Jersey

Hi all,

Originally we our plan in place to from CA to NJ pretty set. We were stopping in Georgia to visit a friend's brother, so that made the trip pretty simple since we had to go South no matter what, even though it was out of the way.

That plan has changed, and Georgia is out. We're still doing Grand Canyon and that's basically our spot before we go off on the trip. Because of that the trip has been really blown up and we have a choice of three routes. North, Central, South, each with their own things on the way.

We've got about sixteen days to do the trip but the first week will pretty much be doing National Parks/Vegas/Grand Canyon. We'll mostly be driving and these places are more like "Where would be a good place to eat, to do maybe a few hours of sight seeing" save maybe one place.

The thing is, each of us want different things. Some like the few the more national park scene, others like history, I'm a foodie(combined with history).

So what would our best bet by of the three routes.

- The North has Denver, which I've never been too and is a food mecca, a great city and has parks. It seems to have it all. Only issue is, I fell for the North Route, Denver is it. From there, we could do Naperville, which we've visited and liked...but then after that, are there really any cool cities to stop by. Is Toledo or Des Moines go anything special about it? The think is, I've always wanted to do Denver, so I can see us spending an extra day there. But then it might make the trip of a "yes, we really are just driving, aren't we?"

-The central route I feel has the most cities to see and ore mix of "these are the many different places in America". We'd get new Mexico, OK, pass through cities like St. Louis and Columbus. Lots of different places, with different types of cities, culture and food. It's definitely more variety. We can also stop at Hershey Park if we go an hour or so out of our way, which could be a fun capper to the trip.

- The south, we can do Nashville, another city I've wanted to go too and another great foodie town. Plus, the music scene. We can also do Memphis for a stop to try that BBQ. We also still get New Mexico and OK. We also pass through Roanoke, which I imagine has some history stuff. We can also do Hershey on this route, if we so choose(or maybe another amusement park. I just like Herseybecause it would be the last thing we do).
