EZPass Rookie - How to find and pay tolls
I recently traveled by road from Raleigh, NC to NYC crossing VA, MD, DE, PA and NJ. There were various locations with EZPass tolls. I do not have EZPass nor was aware of the transponder system.
This being my first road trip here, I have no idea how this works. At locations with cash option, I paid cash. Where I could not, I assumed passing through tolls will get me the tolls by mail. It has been 3 weeks and I haven't yet gotten any receipts.
Can someone help me with how EZPass works? Should/do I have to contact every state's agency to ASK for my toll bill? I read horror stories online about how people get collection notices worth hundreds/thousands of dollars for non-payment.
I would happily pay my fair share as long as I know/understand how to.
In retrospect, I also would like to look into getting an EZPass transponder for any future travel. Any guide on how I should go about it?
