Car recomendation
Two friends and I are currently planning an 8 day trip through the southwest in September (Denver > Grand Canyon > Zion > Moab > Denver). We have a full sized car booked through Alamo with Costco but trying to decide if that would be a good size or if we should change to the compact SUV for about the same price. Costco lists the full size as Chevy Malibu or similar and compact SUV as Nissan Kicks or similar. Full size is listed by Costco to hold 4 large bags and compact SUV as 3, but looking at them it seems like the SUV has much more cargo space. Looking up measurements, a Malibu seems to have more leg space for the back seat. So just not sure on how the pros/cons for each come out.
Basically, does anyone have any experience with these different levels with Alamo to know which would be better overall for comfort/packing space? Shouldn't have too much stuff, probably a suitcase each, backpack for hiking each, tent, sleeping bag/pad each (most nights will be camping), and a decent size cooler.
