Hi /r/roadtrip , my SO and I are going on a road trip towards the end of this month in Canada and are planning on sleeping in our truck for a couple of nights while parked on Crownland (similar to public land in the USA). I have the back of my 4Runner outfitted with a sleeping platform, sleeping pad and sleeping bag.

However I am running into one issue - I will have ski equipment for two people in the back that will not fit in the front of the vehicle while I am sleeping. What do you suggest I do with it? I am concerned about MPG, would it be worth it to invest in a Thule or should I just put the stuff on the ground underneath the vehicle while sleeping?
