Cross Canada Road Trip
I am here looking for advice, hopefully some of you have some experience with this sort of trip.
This coming August, I am helping my brother-in-law drive a U-Haul from Calgary to Nova Scotia. He and his family of 4 are moving East. I’ve never been to the Pacific Coast and seeing as they will no longer be living in Calgary anymore for me to visit, this may be the easiest (least expensive) chance to see that part of the country prior to the long drive in the U-Haul. I don’t have any concrete plans yet, but I was thinking about doing as follows:
Part 1 (travelling solo) 1. Fly to Vancouver or Victoria and rent a car. 2. Drive from BC to Jasper. 3. Drive from Jasper to Calgary (possibly through Banff, although I’ve been to Banff a few times). 4. Drop off the car and help them get read to move
Part 2 Drive with my bro-in-law in a U-Haul back home to NS
So I guess I have several questions. If anyone can answer any of these, I’d greatly appreciate it. Here goes:
- Should I fly to Vancouver or Victoria
- Approximately how much are rental cars per day?
- How many days should I plan to take for Part 1 of the trip?
- How long will part 2 take us?
- What are som things I should make sure I see while I’m there?
- What route should I take? Where should I stop each night to stay?
- Any other advice from people who are from that area or have travelled there?
- Any other advice from people who have driven across the country via U-Haul?
