My wife, daughter (1yr old), and I are driving from Potsdam NY to the outerbanks in June and I’m looking for travel tips. We plan on driving through the Adirondacks/Lake George/Albany route for the scenery instead of I-81 route which is faster but not much scenery. Then driving through Delaware/Salisbury/Chesapeake tunnel into VA and then into the outerbanks. On our return trip we intend on going through Richmond VA and around DC and onto I-81. Any advice? Any preferred routes to avoid traffic?
