Summer Road Trip from Birmingham, AL to Los Angeles, CA Route Recommendations
Hello everyone,
This summer my friend and I are taking a road trip to visit some friends out in the Southwest. We are starting in Birmingham, AL, and going until we reach our friend's house in the LA area. We are two college-aged kids looking for a mix of big-city nightlife stuff and nature. The only mandatory stops for us are Albuquerque to visit a friend along the way and LA. Looking to do anywhere from 2 weeks to 20 days, our tentative itinerary is as follows (looking for feedback and recommendations). Outbound trip: a quick trip to Sam's Throne in the Arkansas Ozarks, overnight camping/morning hikes in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma, Albuquerque (3 days minimum), hiking and a full day/night in Sedona, AZ, LA (3 days minimum), Tijuana!!
Return trip: Joshua Tree National Park, Saguaro National Park, White Sands, Ciudad Juarez (a place I've always wanted to visit but unsure of safety for two gringos, although one of us speaks Spanish), Dallas/Ft. Worth, and then back home. Let us know what you all think and if there's anything we missed! Looking forward to hearing the community's recommendations.
