Is Virginia to Portland and back in nine weeks viable only traveling during the weekends
Hello! So as the title states my partner and I are trying to do Virginia to Portland and back within nine weeks, but only traveling during the weekends (I need to be able to telework during the week). The current plan is to go from Harrisonburg, VA to Nashville, TN for a week, then to New Mexico for two weeks, then either California or Nevada for a week, Portland for two weeks, Yellowstone area for a week, and then Chicago for a final week. We definitely want to spend that time in New Mexico and Portland but the other locations are flexible.
My question is if this is a viable plan? We would be car camping during the weekends, hitting any national parks that we are not able to during the week, in a Jeep SUV. We have an annual interagency pass for national parks so that is pretty much covered. During the week our plan is to get an AirBnB in the major urban areas. We have already traveled down to New Orleans from VA before (~16 hour drive), but this is obviously a different situation.
Is there anything to keep in mind? To plan for? Any places we should definitely go to? Any places to avoid for a LGBT/minority couple?
