Do you plan excursions on the way TO your destination, or on the way BACK?
Trying to get some outside opinions. I am currently planning a roadtrip from Seattle WA to Phoenix AZ (and back).
We want to visit several national parks in Utah, but can't decide whether it should be on the way down, or on the way back home. We will be staying in Phoenix area for 3 or 4 nights as our "destination".
What do you prefer? A leisurely drive down, taking several days full of exploring? Then beeline home after Phoenix. Or beeline down, enjoy Phoenix, and have the adventures on the way home?
