First long road trip with family. What do we need to plan on?

We're (self, hubby & son) driving from NY to the Florida keys this Sunday. We're renting a car (ford fusion hybrid) and are planning on stopping once overnight to sleep halfway down besides every couple hours to stretch. My hubby and I will take turns but he used to drive up to 16 hours at a time for work so it's no big deal to him.

What do we need to keep in mind for a drive like this? We've done about 10 hours drive before but that was the longest. This time we'll do about 12 one day then 10 the next.

I appreciate any tips on this kind of a trip. Just trying to cross all my t's etc.
