Driving from Albuquerque, NM to Springfield, MA (and back) in December - Weather?

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I are planning to visit family in Springfield, MA and a couple other cities near there during the December 14-30th time period. We each are comfortable driving individually 8-10 hrs per day (so 16-20 total), and he has a 2012 Ford Focus SEL that is up-to-date on everything it needs and currently has no issues. Google Maps suggests a 32 hr driving time with the following route: I-40 from Albuquerque, NM, through Oklahoma City; then 10 miles on I-35; I-44 to St Louis, MO; I-55 to near Troy; I-70 to Columbus, OH; I-71 to Granger, OH; I-271 to Willoughby Hills, OH; I-90 (through Buffalo, NY) the rest of the way to Springfield, MA.

What plans should we make for road closures, different routing, etc.? While the ideal would be a 2-day trip, if it's a bit more that's okay, but I do have the deadline to be back - before the 31st - and don't want to get stuck for too long anywhere. We intend to spend Christmas day and ideally the day after Christmas with family, leaving us driving starting on the 27th, or 26th if necessary. Also, my boyfriend is very comfortable driving in snowy conditions, but those would still delay us, and I'm most worried about being halted completely.

(Note: While we could fly to and from, I am required to work on December 31st and January 1st, and in order to do so without a full quarantine per my state's rules and also common sense, I must get a negative coronavirus test prior to working, and the state says that the test must have been taken no earlier than 3 days before entering the state. Obviously, I feel more corona-safe only seeing our small families and NOT flying through several large airports, especially on the way back, as if I take a COVID test prior to flying home, it's basically useless regarding exposure there. With a 2+ day car trip, the only exposure will be getting gas, getting food, and at an Airbnb or motel for the night - much more minimal than airports and planes.)
