A trip never taken
Not entirely sure if this breaks the rules but it's something I want to share. I regularly look through the sub and enjoy reading the stories and advice. In early 2019 me and two of my closest friends planned to take a trip from our small town in Kansas to the West with the goal of staying in the Pacific Northwest for most of it. We planned to mostly stop and hike along the way as much as we could. One of the guys on the trip had been camping in the PNW so we would visit the places he has been and some others. We planned to live out of our Jeep since we were high school seniors with a tight budget. This was mostly planned by me and our camping friend in the group. This was something we were really looking forward to. Graduation would likely separate us so this was partially the last big thing we would ever do together. We relished in the idea of camping out in the middle of nowhere and stopping at small towns. Apart from our camping friend we had never seen anything other than our corner of the Midwest. Our excitement quickly turned to tragedy as the friend who owned the Jeep was arrested and put into a 4 month rehabilitation program. He got out a little while before graduation so newer plans and responsibilities took over and it faded away. I would bring it up a few times but even then nothing would come from it. Our former camping expert is now in the Marines and our other friend is in prison. I'm in college so I don't see that trip ever being completed. I hope this didn't break the rules and get removed right away. If you read all of this, thank you. Not very exciting but very important to me.
