Some States Are Now Seeing New Spikes in New Coronavirus Cases
If you have travel plans for these states, be aware and take precautions:
Cases are increasing in 14 states, most notably in Texas and Arizona, Axios reported Wednesday. Florida is also high on the list.
In Texas, phase three of reopening came even as the number of new cases continued to rise in the week between May 28 and June 3, reported KVUE-TV on Wednesday. There were 10,350 new cases during that seven-day period, nearly 1,500 per day. Also during that week, 172 people died of COVID-19, the station said.
Arizona was showing a spike too, with new cases and ICU hospitalizations at record highs, reported KSAZ-TV.
“What we see in the data is pretty predictable,” former Arizona Department of Public Health director Will Humble told KSAZ, noting that the stay-at-home order expired two weeks ago, which is the window of time it generally takes new infections to manifest.
