Should a new driver go on a road trip
Hi, I'm a relatively new driver. My parents let me drive sometimes, but mostly in parking lots and stuff. They only let me on the road a handful of times. I mostly taught myself and my mom has been trusting me with her car recently and I've been doing a good job. I'm supposed to get a car tomorrow (fingers crossed) and I want to take a road trip in August. It's not a road trip per say, I want to visit my grandmother who lives in the country about 5 hours away. I've been there millions of times since I was young and its a very easy route. Lots of wooded areas with a couple gas stations and farms in between so I think I can handle it. My dad is worried I may not be ready, but I believe I am since I've driven on roads with my moms car and has been fine. But he may be right, but I still really want to go see her before I go off to college so I think I'll be fine. Is my dad right or should I just go for it?
BTW: I'm a 21F and I plan on leaving about 3 am and arriving around 8 since she's a morning person and there won't be much traffic.
