Completing a coast to coast road trip during a world of pandemic!
I wanted to share my recent trip with you Guys in a world that Is just starting to re-open. I recently completed my 7th trip from California to NH. I had open roads and no traffic. Driving through many states shutdown was a somber feeling. I thought to myself this is the strangest trip I’ve taken Coast to coast. Don’t get me wrong I fly too but there’s just something about driving across country that is nurturing. The route I took this time took me through the Rockies of Colorado, the open plains of Nebraska, along Lake Erie in Ohio and several other beautiful places. Stores were closed, the only others on the road were truckers and essential workers. Every little town I passed through was like a ghost town. Some with single blinking lights on an open road. Gas stations were only open on the highways the local gas stations in the towns were closed. I saw wildlife take back the land. Some critters I saw was Mule Deer, Coyotes and bobcats to name a few. The sound of pure silence in the deserts was calming and only hearing the sounds of crickets and other animals in the more wooded areas. This trip will be one I will never forget and I get to do it all over again at the end of June when I drive back to California from New Hampshire. I suggest anyone taking road trips during this odd time to pack plenty of snacks and water, prep sandwiches for the road unless you prefer fast food as those seem to still be open at truck stops. The local ma and pa diners that I love to experience on these trips were all closed. Pack a jerry can because one some states there’s no gas for over 100 miles. Don’t get yourself stranded in a state that is still closed. I hope you enjoy my little segment here and I’ll share more of my experiences here with due time.
