Dear fellow Redditors,

We are planning to fly to SFO on Aug.2nd until Aug.17th. We want to do a roadtrip up north towards Seattle and back down again. Seattle is not set in stone yet, just a rough destination target. Could also be Portland, Olympic Forest or further down south.

Are there any "do-not-miss-places" you would recommend on that route?

Is it absolutely vital to pre-book hotels/motels now, instead of finding some on the road?

We are two adults and our daughter (10).

We do realise the time is not very long, that's why we kept Seattle only as a rough end destination.

Would love to hear insights and tips. Open for all advice.
