Colombia in November: Advice Needed!

Hi all, I am planning my first solo trip and I’ve chosen Colombia due to rave reviews from friends as well as the fact that my mom was born there (no, my spanish is a solid 2/10 but I got rosetta stone and am planning on putting in some decent hours before leaving to brush up). What I like:beachescultureA bit of partying, latin musicsunbeautiful sceneryHere’s my tentative schedule:November 5: fly in to MedellinNovember 5-8: stay in a hostel in Medellin, meet people, explore the city. On the agenda are street art and Communa 13 tours, day trip to Guatape, suggestions welcome here.November 8-11: Switch to AirBnB, I would like to have some cleaner/non-hostel time to do me before heading off on my next leg, plus I will hopefully have met some friends at the hostel to go out with etc.November 11: Fly to Santa Marta, immediately take taxi/private car and head toward a hostel close to Parque Tayrona. I’ve looked at Costeno Beach, will likely stay there (again, more suggestions please!)November 11-14: Chill on the beach, check out the nature and Parque, etc. (should I stay in one place? I don’t want to move around too much but i’m down to see more)November 14: Car/taxi to Santa Marta and bus to CartagenaNovember 14-16: Check out Cartagena, potentially do a day trip (or overnight?) to see the Rosario Islands (suggestions welcome!)November 16: Fly home from Cartagena. So, any tips from people who have been there or have come across something online that I maybe haven’t? My budget is ~1200 after flights which I believe is plenty. The idea of my schedule is to party it up in the beginning then leaving plenty of time for r&r before heading home to my job.Any and all advice appreciated, thanks guys! via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/2SxaAze
