A lot of judgemental posts on here lately

I feel like there has been a lot of judgemental posts of other travellers on here lately. Who are we to judge what other people want or don’t want to do while on holiday? If someone wants to “live like a local” or if they want a “follow the flag” tour why does it matter to us? If someone wants to eat in chain restaurants as opposed to small, locally owned ones who are we to judge? If someone wants to go to an all inclusive resort or if they want to do it all themselves why should we judge?Yeah sure, there are ways that I would do things different to the next guy - but it’s not my place to judge how another tourist spends their time (as long as it doesn’t affect fellow travellers or locals negatively - I.e. “begpacking”). Whether you saved up for 5 years to travel or whether your parents are helping you with the costs, it’s not our place to decide who is a “morally superior” tourist.I have seen comments on here calling people “white privileged” for the way they travel - you can’t win. Nobody knows each others situations - what race you are or what your socioeconomic status is, not that that even matters anyway. If someone is a millionaire and wants to travel budget why do you care? If someone wants to spend one day in a country it doesn’t make them an inferior tourist because you spent 3 months there.Anyway, rant over. I just think we should be encouraging people to travel more - not judging every single choice a tourist makes whether that be destination or hostel/hotel or restaurant/street food for example. Just encourage people to travel and make their own decisions on what they want to do. via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/2M0pWLD
