Second guessing Dublin

So I have a 5 day trip to Ireland coming up and it's the first time I'm truly doing a trip solo. The closest I've been is exploring Tokyo during the day then meeting up with a friend after she got out of school later in the evenings to hang out. What worries me is I posted a "Looking to meet up" thread in r/Dublin and the responses were for the most part trollish and unfriendly.I grew up on Long Island and frequented NYC nightlife a lot and would never go out any of these places solo because trying to talk to other people gets you a look like you're weirdo. I now live in a more rural area and enjoy it because the people are so friendly and enjoy conversation with new people. Likewise I always did pretty good in hostels with making friends as other travelers for the most part seemed also to be more friendly and willing to converse.I guess my question is how are Dubliners and the Irish in general? Are they like people in NYC and I'm likely to get looked at like I have three heads or will I be able to make friends? I'm not introverted by any means but I'm also not the charismatic life of the party. I'd say I'm a regular dude but I do get kind of discouraged when I get laughed at or ignored.I kind of want to just eat the $800 I have invested. Sure I can go and see the sights but for me I like to explore the culture and if it turns out they're pretty closed of I don't see much of a point. via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/2X2XBpF
