Overland travel from Europe to Tbilisi
Hi everyone,Due to recent bad experiences, I've decided to try to forego plane travel entirely unless its really necessary or trans-continental. Later this year, I'm going to be going to Tbilisi and want to know if anyone has personal experience of this trip without a plane. I know that there is a train that goes all the way across Turkey to the border of Georgia, but want to know if anyone has experience with it and can offer any advice. I'd be traveling in winter -- like maybe December or January, if that makes a difference. Seat61.com notes there will be a new train going all the way to Tbilisi starting in August of this year, so I'll be checking that out too.Also, forgive me if this is ignorant (I really do not follow politics) but would there be any worry about the political situation in eastern turkey? A related question is whether or not I would face any difficulties with my passport. I have US passport which clearly states I was born in Israel, and I have a paradigmatically Jewish name (I'm Orthodox Christian, incidentally).
