Travel Insurance: Theft of Personal Goods
Hey guys, I'm Canadian and was wondering if anyone can provide recommendations/discuss their experiences with insurance policies that cover theft of personal goods, specifically cell phones. My credit cards' travel insurance do not insure personal goods unless they've been stolen in the course of travel (via water/land/air)... I'm more interested in being insured if I get robbed (and being insured of at least $1,000 because cell phones are expensive).
I understand that many Central/South American countries are safe, but I'd like to cover my bases if something unfortunate does happen.
Thanks for any advice! Hopefully this discussion can provide useful tips for the community. I think it's important to understand that medical insurance and insurance for personal goods are separate things. Your travel insurance / credit card may not cover both.
