3 months solo roadtrip across US/Can :
Hey peeps, I'm from France and to celebrate my Canadian citizenship I'm leaving early June for a summer roadtrip, my first long solo trip ever (3 months). I'm using roadtrippers.com, if you wanna check the itinerary it's over here. Basically, I'll drive from Montreal to SF (06/06-31) then going up the west coast (my main goal, as pacific forest seem to be my fav biome -as opposed to arid areas, which tend to stress me out a bit) and stop by Vancouver Island (07/01-07-31). I'll check the Rockies out (mid august) then back to Mtl through the great plains (08/31).
The goal will be to create. I'm a concept artist and I need to refuel my inspiration folder and work on my skills. So I'll take pictures, paint and draw. I'll take my time, if I like an area, I can stay for a few days. I've done a fair amount of research on things to do in and between each NP, but there's only so much you can find online (quite a lot actually ahah). Anyway, finding stuff to do is not a concern.
Another goal is personal growth and reflecting on things. I'll have plenty of alone time to do that.
I'm excited af but also a bit anxious about going solo, for safety and social reasons. First, I really do want to hike and camp in NPs. I'll sleep in my van most nights, but I also want to go in the back-country. I'm not very comfortable camping alone in there, for obvious safety reasons (...BEARS !!). Also, I'm a bit anxious at times.
Second, I DO need my social dose on a regular basis. Otherwise I can feel very lonely at times, especially when I feel a bit down. Hopefully this trip will help me dealing with this, as my life is quite balanced socially and I have nothing to complain about really -au contraire.
So anyway, I'd love to meet people along the way, locals or fellow travelers, and hit the pub or hike. Would love to try MTB. I'd also love to go to rave parties, festivals, bars and such. Big fan of techno and metal here, and music in general. Also, urbex :)
I've searched on meetup to find hiking buddies, with limited success. I'm also planning to stay at a few backpackers hostels -if they're not already full, as it seems to be the best way to meet people. Also, couchsurfing might be a good resource.
Maybe some of you will be in the area at that time ? Or have resources/advice to share ? Hit me up :)
