Tips for biking vietnam?
So I've booked myself a trip to Vietnam (my first time completely solo) for two weeks from the 21st June to 5th July and will be making my way from Hanoi to Da Nang by bike. I've been doing all of the preparation I can over the past few weeks getting travel insurance, vaccines etc sorted and trying to get as much information I can on routes and navigation.
While I've travelled a fair amount and have visited 'difficult' countries like Iran frequently (though I guess it's easier being Iranian!), my biggest challenge on this trip is that I've never actually ridden a motorbike before. I've driven (cars) in the UK and a little in Iran but have only ever been on the back of motorbikes. I've read mixed opinions about riding for the first time in Vietnam with some promoting it and some saying it's a terrible idea. Ultimately like most risky things, it's up to each person to decide if they're up to it and then accept whatever happens as a result.
To that end, I was wondering what this community's thoughts were on the topic? Am I being unrealistic wanting to bike Vietnam solo? If not, do any experienced riders have tips for not eating sh*t the first time I try to ride?
(If it matters, I'm a 22 year old guy).
