It seems like 2 people with their own travel plans being from different parts of the world could fizzle out easier than if one of them was pretty much in a fixed location. That way you could either stay longer or have more convenient ways to meet up again, whether it be in the city one of you live in or somewhere in-between.

I'm probably wrong and it definitely just depends on the people involved, but I love reading these types of stories so please share.
