Folks,

Due to work I'm driving halfway across Canada (to Winnipeg) and I haven't taken the Vancouver-Edmonton-Saskatoon-Winnipeg route in a long time. I get 5 days to do that (work has a limit of 500km/day), so I don't need to rush.

Any recommendations for places (towns/villages, not specific hotels but if you really want to recommend one then go ahead) to stay between Vancouver and Edmonton, and between Saskatoon and Winnipeg? Preferably something close to the main highways but I don't mind wandering a bit if the area is interesting. Budget is pretty flexible but not like Banff Springs Hotel prices.
