NYC to Houston, TX in 3ish Days... Any tips for a solo drive?
I'm planning to drive solo from NYC to Houston next week, need to be there by Wednesday at the latest. The farthest I've ever driven solo is about 6 hours, but I've driven 9 or 10 with a passenger before. This looks like it's about 26 hours on the road, which of course depends on whatever traffic I have to get through. I'm hoping to get advice from people with any experience with extended solo drives like this, with the sole purpose of getting to the destination as quickly as possible. I'm not concerned with any sightseeing/attractions or anything like that, I plan on only stopping to sleep at rest stops when I really feel like I need a couple hours, or to eat. Does this sound doable, or do people usually have to give in and stop at a hotel and sleep a full night somewhere along the line? I'm really hoping I can stretch myself out for at least 8 hours at a time and that I can come across rest stops frequently enough to get those couple hours of sleep here and there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, the more I think about it the more daunting it seems. Gotta be there by Wednesday and plan to leave Sunday, so trying to prepare myself for it. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give.
