Itinerary Review - Russia >> Austria, Germany, Switzerland & Italy
Hey everyone,
I've done some solo travel in the past- 6 days in London by myself (I'm Australian, 24 yrs old, female). Thinking of doing a bigger trip, around 3 weeks.
As I'm still a university student, that limits when I go abroad. I quite like winter, probably because it's so different to my life in Sydney.
Anyway, here's my itinerary: 5 nights in Moscow (late November) - arriving on the 29th Nov 4 nights in Saint Petersburg
fly to Austria>>>> 3 nights in Vienna 3 nights in Salzburg 3 nights in Munich 2 nights in Zurich 3 nights in St. Moritz (Bernina express to Tirano) 2 nights in Milan (leave and arrive in Sydney before Christmas Day)- leaving on the 23rd December.
Will use the train.
I have some concerns:
a) I speak some Russian, but not enough to break through the language barrier. For that reason, I plan to do some day tours. How do I know which ones are worth doing, what companies are reputable, etc?
b) I plan to stay in hotels. Hostels don't really suit me, and neither do AirBnbs. Any tips on how I can meet people? Can I just go into a Western pub and start chatting? I'm a bit shy.
c) Some trains have steps that you must take in order to put your luggage on. As a Sydneysider, this is very rare for me. I'm not physically strong, and would like to know how I can safely put my luggage on the train / off the train without hurting anyone or slowing everything down.
d) Do I have enough time allocated in each place?
e) I don't ski, but I want to go to St. Moritz for the views. Would there be enough to do for 3 nights?
Any advice would be appreciated. Have a good weekend everyone!
