Help me choose a place please!
I have 5 weeks off from Aug 4th - Sept 10th. I am somewhat a seasoned traveler. This time I am looking to stay put in a country/city for at least 4 weeks. I would not mind also working at a hostel for a room to help pass time. Previous hostel work has helped me see a local side which I want. I am not a big fan of taking pictures but I do like taking pictures of nature, I enjoy doing things. Examples would be hiking,scuba diving, riding a bike in a bike friendly city, eating great food, sitting by the ocean/lake while reading a book, drinking with locals.
I am looking for good weather, between 18C to 25C, little rain. I am very much wanting to be near water, ocean or lake. I would like a medium size city with medium amount of tourist. Enough tourist to keep things a little lively but not overwhelming full of buses and tour groups with flags/whistles.
Budget of 2,000 usd, not including flight. Im thinking either work exchange at the hostel for a bed or get an apartment for around 400-500 a month. That would leave me about 400 a week to spend. My idea for food is to eat out once a day and cook breakfast and snacks in a kitchen. A nice farmer market would be great.
So far I have Spain on the list, which I have visited before. Flights are very cheap. I would not live in Madrid. Never been to Portugal, which is also on the list. San Sebastian would be nice but I have been before. The food is amazing but I feel it is a bit small. If S.S. can be a bit larger and slightly cheaper than I would be sold.
Central America is on the list also but where. I have never been.
