Gear advice for a summer long road trip
Hi everyone!
I'm a 21 year old female from Michigan planning a road trip hitting most of the states. The trip should last 2-3 months, depending on how long I decide to stay in each state. I don't have any responsibilities tying me to any specific area and what I do for work is across the United States, so I can work as I go. This isn't a "soul searching" trip, it's just a traveling to travel and meet new people, see new things, and experience autonomy at it's rawest. (Fun place I'm staying: hostel in the woods in Georgia. Look it up).
For lodging I'll be camping in state parks, staying in hostels, and using the couchsurfing app in the bigger cities. I'm looking for advice on what to bring to go camping. I've camped many times before in Michigan (where I'm from), but we didn't have any serious threat of wild animals. Is a sleeping bag necessary to buy? Is a tent, or have those who slept in their cars find it's better? I have a Hyundai Elantra. It's pretty small, but I'm trying to narrow down my packing list.
Also, if anyone has a favorite place, please tell me!! I want to see the beauty of the United States before I start traveling internationally. I like hiking on trails in the woods and in the mountains, being near the ocean, yoga, drinking/going out, and just hanging out and learning new things from interesting people.
