First time Solo travel to a different country - exchange rates from US to CAN.
I’m doing my first solo trip to another country, Canada. I will be going solo but also traveling with a tour company for a major part of the trip.
I have a question about exchange rates and carrying cash. I’ll fly into Vancouver and the trip goes all over British Columbia and ends up in Calgary, Alberta. I’m told my visa credit card should still work most places that accept credit cards, however, there’ll likely be an international fee on the transaction for concerting between currencies or something like it. I am told to bring a decent amount of cash and convert it to CAN for most purchases and also for emergencies.
So my question is where do I convert it? I’ve heard airports have an exchange but I’ve also heard they can have expensive fees. And also once I’m done with the trip and about to fly home do I just convert what is left over before flying back? I won’t be renting a car, just using public transportation and the group will be traveling in a vehicle of some kind as well.
