Advice on a solo trip through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
So I’m considering a solo trip through the above mentioned countries. I keep going back and forth. I’ve solo travelled in Europe, Africa, and Asia, but for some reason I’m hesitating here. I’ve read a lot about the safety of the region, and that doesn’t concern me. It seems more about the logistical difficulties. I don’t speak Russian beyond a few basic phrases. A lot of what I’ve read talks about the beauty of the region, but also what a pain it can be to navigate. Lots of corruption and not great public transportation outside of cities. In Africa I hired guides when traveling outside cities, but that’s not really a financial option this time around for me. Any advice would be welcome. Am I overthinking this? Are the logistics of travel really that bad there?
